Friday, June 10, 2011

QUEBEC, - A freak accident occurred on a highway in Quebec, Canada. A "bear fly" struck a car and killed two passengers.
The accident started when a car crashed into a black bear on a highway outside the city of Quebec, on Wednesday (06/08/2011) night. The bear weighing 200 kilograms was bouncing and sliding into an SUV that sped from the opposite direction, said local police told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

The bear fell right at the windshield of the SUV and drove through the back window of the vehicle.

SUV driver, 25-year-old Ottawa woman, were killed instantly. While the passenger who sat in the back seat was also killed. Driver's girlfriend who was sitting in the front seat suffered only minor injuries.

Two people in car that crashed into the bear was not seriously injured, while the bear was dead.

Wildlife, including bears, roaming the streets is not uncommon in rural Canada. Usually a car is hit by a deer and moose.

"Events like this are very rare, even in rural areas though. There are many deer, but a collision with a bear and leaving two people dead? Very, very rarely," said Martin Fournel, a spokesman for local police.

According to a hunting guide, is now a breeding season for bears. He warned drivers to be careful because male bears usually wander out of its territory to search for females.
